Springfield Commonwealth Academy is proud to announce that Angelene and several SCA students represented the school at COP30, the 30th UN Climate Change Conference, held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10–21, 2025.

COP30 focuses on urgent global climate action and international cooperation to address pressing environmental challenges. Delegates from over 190 countries, including world leaders, climate experts, and representatives of indigenous communities, gather to discuss strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to green energy, and financing biodiversity and forest conservation efforts.

Belém, often called the “gateway to the Amazon rainforest,” provided a meaningful backdrop for the conference, emphasizing the importance of preserving the world’s most critical ecosystems. This is the first COP held in Brazil since the historic 1992 Rio Earth Summit, marking a milestone in three decades of international climate negotiations.

Through their participation, SCA students gained firsthand insight into global climate initiatives and the spirit of collaboration — or “mutirão” — needed to address climate change effectively. This experience reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing globally aware, environmentally conscious leaders.
